Milestones

Automobile Engineering Department was established in the year 2009 with a sanctioned strength of 60 and affliated to Anna University, Coimbatore.

2009 - 2010

1. The Automobile Engineering branch is started in the year 2009 with an intake of 60 with a vision of enhancing the technical knowledge of automobile to the benefit of rural students.

2. Immediately after the establishment, the department has organized a Two Days Workshop on “Recent Advancements in Composites, Smart Materials and Contact Mechanics” on Febraury 2009.

2010 - 2011

1. The Automobile Engineering Association (AEA) is started with a goal of facilitating a platform & providing Guest Lectures, Workshops and orientation programmes in order to update the recent developments taking place in automobile industries.

2011 - 2012

1. On 29th July 2011, the Automobile Engineering Department and AEA jointly organized a Guest Lecture on “Tractor Industry & Manufacturing, Expectations from Freshers”.

2. On 26th & 27thAugust 2011, the Automobile Engineering Department and AEA jointly organized a Two day Workshop on “Solidworks for SAE Competitions”.

3. The Automobile Engineering Department organised a Guest Lecture on “Emission Control Methods and Norms for Automotive Vehicles” on 20th December 2011.

4. The Automobile Engineering Department organised a Guest Lecture in the topic of “Vehicle Dynamics & Testing” on 28th January 2012.

5. On 3rd Feruary 2012, the Automobile Engineering Department and AEA jointly organized a Two day Workshop on “New Frontiers in Research Computing”.

2012 - 2013

1. First Batch of Automobile Engineering students graduated with a Pass Percentage of 86.

2. Mr. S. Arun of Automobile Engineering has Secured 8th Rank among the students of Anna University Coimbatore.

3. Automobile Engineering Department has moved to the new unique and fully furnished block with Equipments of the latest configurations.

4. The Automobile Engineering Department and AEA jointly organized a guest lecture on “Best Practices in Automotive Industry” on 4th july 2012.

5. On 19th January 2013, the Automobile Engineering Department and AEA jointly organized a Guest lecture on “Latest Technologies in Automobile Industries”.

6. On 2nd March 2013, the Automobile Engineering Department conducted a Maiden National Level Technical Symposium "Mustang’13” in association with AEA.

 2013 - 2014

1. Second Batch of Automobile Engineering students graduated with a pass percentage of 84.

2. Mr. S. Santhoshkumar of Automobile Engineering Secured 1st Rank (Gold Medal) among the students of Anna University, Chennai.

3. Mr. S. Karthikeyan of Automobile Engineering Secured 2nd Rank (Silver Medal) among the students of Anna University, Chennai.

4. Mr. J. John Victor of Automobile Engineering Secured 3rd Rank (Bronze Medal) among the students of Anna University, Chennai.

5. Mr. S. Balachandran of Automobile Engineering Secured 4th Rank among the students of Anna University, Chennai.

6. Mr. R. Vignesh of Automobile Engineering Secured 5th Rank among the students of Anna University, Chennai.

7. Mr. V. Sundarraj of Automobile Engineering Secured 12th Rank among the students of Anna University, Chennai.

8.The university had granted an additional intake of 60 with a total intake of 120 students.

9. Automobile Engineering students are trained for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) and Four of them got GATE Score card and admitted for PG studies in prestigious institutions of India.

10. The Automobile Engineering Department organised a Guest Lecture in along with AEA Innagural Function on 31st August 2013.

11. The Automobile Engineering Department organised a Guest Lecture on “Recent trends in automobile electronics” cum SAE Innagural Function on 7th October 2013.

2014 - 2015

1. Third Batch of Automobile Engineering students graduated with a pass percentage of 70.

2. Mr. S. Prakash of Automobile Engineering Secured 4th Rank among the students of Anna University, Chennai.

3. Mr. A. Sureshmani of Automobile Engineering Secured 5th Rank among the students of Anna University, Chennai.

4. Mr. S. Kavin Kumar of Automobile Engineering Secured 25th Rank among the students of Anna University, Chennai.

5. Mr. K. Ezhil Vannan of Automobile Engineering Secured 27th Rank among the students of Anna University, Chennai.

6. Automobile Engineering students are trained for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering(GATE) and Three of them got GATE Score card and admitted for PG studies in prestigious institutions of India.

7. AEA Inaugural function cum Guest Lecture was organized by the Automobile Engineering Department on 11th July 2014.

8. The department conducted a National Level Technical Symposium "Mustang2K14" in association with AEA On 22nd August 2014.

9. On 10th January Automobile Engineering Department in association with AEA organized a Guest Lecture & Hands on Practical Session on “Present Scenario of Automobile Industries”.

2015 - 2016

1. Fourth Batch of Automobile Engineering students graduated with a pass percentage of 85.

2. Mr. R. Venkatesh of Final year Participated in 2nd Indo-Bhutan Rural Games 2015-2016, on February 2016, Held at Phuentsholing Sports Association, Bhutan and Won Gold Medal in Javelin throw.

3. A Seminar on “Arivana Arivom” is jointly organized by the AEA and Automobile Engineering Department on 14th July 2015.

4. A Guest Lecture on “Application of CAD and CAE Tools in Automotive Industries” is organized by the Automobile Engineering Department on 22nd July 2015.

5. On 12th August 2015, Our Department in association with AEA organized an one day Workshop on “Automotive Engine and Vehicle Technology”.

6. On 21st August 2015, the Department conducted the National Level Technical Symposium "Mustang 2K15" in association with AEA. 

2016 - 2017

1. The Automobile Engineering Department successfully organized a National Level Technical Symposium "Mustang2k16" and a Guest Lecture in associated with AEA on 22st August 2016.

2. The Automobile Engineering Department successfully organized a Guest Lecture on “Environmental sustainability through research and development” on 9th September 2016.

3. On 23nd & 24thMarch 2017, the Automobile Engineering Department in association with AEA organized a One day workshop on “Advanced Automotive Engines” and “TRANSMOT 2k17” (mini bike race).

4. The AEA successfully organized a one day seminar on “Awareness program on Education on overseas” on 9th March 2017.
